Kimya Dawson, a prominent member of the anti-folk movement and one half the Moldy Peaches, made herself a household name (er, at least in indie circles) after the widespread attention received from their involvement on the soundtrack of the 2007 flick, "Juno". Her lo-fi acoustic sound and raspy catchy lyrics tell childish tales of love, heartbreak, and any other random topic imaginable from books to bicycles to roadtrips with a happy-go-lucky innocence. But beneath the surface naivate lurks the artistically soulful struggle for meaning, love, and carpe diem we all know so well, which is what keeps us interested and keeps us coming back for more. Dawson encapsulates and regurgitates a time, an era, and the feeling of our collective lives.
